A settlement method and system using a portable terminal, in which a portable terminal user inks an accounting contract 'credit card or bank account transfer' with a carrier, the portable terminal has an individual identification number, and a seller inks a tie-up store contract with the carrier and instead the carrier takes care of the collection of a payment or service fee. At the time of purchase, a seller server issues a unique dealing number, notifies the dealing number and the mediate site URL of the seller server to a buyer portable terminal, and accesses a carrier settlement server from the buyer portable terminal through the sellerserver mediate site. At the time of settlement, the carrier identifies a party to the contract from the individual identification number to perform a settlement processing and transmits a settlement complete screen and receipt mail to the buyer portable terminal.
