[Also in Division D1] A stable resin-liquid dispersion having a pH of greater than 7 comprises from 0À1% to 75% by weight of emulsion polymerized resin solids, from 0À1% to 5% by weight of the resin solids of an anionic surfactant selected from alkyl aromatic sulphonates, alkyl sulphonates and fatty acid soaps, and from 0À01% to 2% by weight of the resin solids of a chelate compound having a metal cation capable of destroying the anionic surfactant system under acid conditions. In the example, the dispersion comprises polyvinyl acetate emulsion, the dicalcium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, dodecyl benzene sulphonate, water and ammonia. The resin particles are precipitated on to fibres which have been impregnated with acetic acid when the dispersion is brought into contact with them.</p> |
