PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid registration of data with extensive overlaps of features when using 1:N authentication technique, thereby keeping false acceptance rate and false rejection rate from rising when the number of registrants becomes excessive, and preventing security and convenience from deteriorating. SOLUTION: Only pieces of biometric information with few overlaps of features with other pieces of biometric information can be used in personal identification, and overlaps of features between pieces of registered data can be arbitrarily set to small amounts; even if the number of registrants becomes excessive, a false acceptance rate and a false rejection rate can be kept from rising. Thus, a biometric authentication apparatus for performing personal identification at high recognition performance without reducing user convenience can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
