<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of inexpensively controlling a current flowing through each of series cell groups while ensuring the reliability of a battery pack system adopting a parallel configuration of the series cell groups. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The battery pack system 10 includes a plurality of series cell units 1A to 1Z connected in parallel to each other and control units 9A to 9Z. The series cell units 1A to 1Z have groups of serially connected cells 4 and current control elements 5A to 5Z, respectively. The control units 9A to 9Z supply current control signals 6A to 6Z to the current control elements 5A to 5Z, respectively. The current control elements 5A to 5Z are provided as discrete elements that cause current flowing therethrough to change in response to the signal levels of the current control signals 6A to 6Z.
