PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance image sensor achieving a suitable detecting distance range for a wide variety of applications. SOLUTION: A light adjusting part 7 controls a light quantity which is received at a light receiving part 3, by adjusting the light quantity which is projecting into an object space from a light projecting part 2. A manual set part 8 is mounted in the distance image sensor 1, the light quantity which is adjusted in the light adjusting part 7 is set according to the operation of the manual set part 8. Here, when the detecting distance range is to be shifted into a near distance side, the light quantity from the light projecting part 2 is to be decreased so as to avoid a saturation of the light receiving part 3, and when the detecting distance range is to be shifted into a remote distance range, the light quantity from the light projecting part 2 is to be increased so as to avoid lack of sensitivity of the light receiving part 3, by doing these procedures, the detecting distance range of the distance image sensor 1 can be varied.
