<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To firmly latch an actuator arm even when external shock or vibration is applied to an HDD when current is not being supplied to a bobbin of a voice coil motor (VCM) and also smoothly unlatch the actuator arm when current is supplied to the VCM coil. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The actuator latch device includes: a latch lever 71 which is provided on a base 90 so as to be rotatable and prevents rotation of an actuator arm having a bobbin 46 including a VCM coil formed in its rear end in one direction; and a latch magnetic section 80 which is provided in the latch lever, magnetically interacts with a VCM magnet 51 provided adjacent to the bobbin when current is not supplied to the VCM coil, generates a latching force to latch the actuator arm, and generates an electromagnetic force to unlatch the actuator arm when current is supplied to the VCM coil.
