1,230,237. Nail feeding. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 11 Sept., 1969 [12 Sept., 1968], No. 44805/69. Heading B4C. [Also in Division B8] In a device for feeding tacks, for example to a tack separator, in a shoe-making machine, the tacks received via an opening 19 in a lid 17 are blown by air introduced via an inlet 21 through a tube 22 to a region at which they are deflected by recess 25 towards a raceway 24. Misaligned tacks are removed from the raceway by a shoe 27 or by a brush 28 which is pivotable about axis of shaft 33. The device illustrated includes two compartments divided by a wall 14 and each having associated therewith a tube 22, an air inlet 21, a raceway 24 and a recess 25. The lid 17 is provided with two inlet openings 19 and both recesses 25. As an alternative the lid may have a deflector attached thereto instead of a recess 25. The walls 12-14 and base 11 are preferably a single metal casting and walls 15, 16 are preferably of transparent material, e.g. polymethyl methacrylate screwed on to the metal casting. All the walls preferably converge toward the base. |
