[Also in Division E1] In an aircraft landing mat or other decking structure composed of a series of interlocking or bolted-together rectangular or other metal panels 10, each panel comprises top and bottom plates 12, 14 connected by webs 16 and provided with a welded-on coupling bar 18 seated on a bevelled tongue whose end face is slanted to the panel plane at an angle A between 65 and 85 degrees, the tongue being formed by (a) sliding rectangular tubes 17 into the channels between the webs 16; (b) bevelling and cutting the parts to the shape shown; and (c) securing the tubes 17 to the webs 16 by welds 28. The bar 18 is secured by walls 20. The panels shown have side interlock formations 22.
