A photoacoustic spectroscopy system

A system (10) for providing photoacoustic spectroscopy. A light source (11) having a quantum dot filter (27) may provide a band of infrared light which is to be reflected by a lamellar grating (13) to a photoacoustic chamber (16). The light may be modulated by the grating (13). The chamber (16) may contain a sample of fluid for which spectral information is sought. A sensor (22) may detect acoustic pressures in the chamber (16) which indicate the spectral information. Signals from the sensor (22) may be processed and displayed. Identification and concentration of certain substances in the fluid (19) may be obtained.
