<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein pores of a porous material are filled immediately when a substance having a specific size is removed and a problem that there is a case where substances having two sizes are needed to be adsorbed, because diatomaceous earth itself is a porous material and is formed by the petrifaction of diatom and thus is used widely as a heat insulating material and an adsorbent material, but a capacity of each size of pores is very small and 0.01 ml/g or less in every size and a problem wherein conventional diatomaceous earth products can not correspond to the adsorption of a material having a size distribution of two peaks. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The porous material is manufactured from diatomaceous earth. Its pore radii are distributed in the range from 0.1 nm to 10 μm, and both pores having a pore radius of 1-10 nm and pores having a pore radius of 100 nm or more are present in an amount of 0.02 ml/g or more.
