<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor, which performs high-accuracy matching while reducing the processing time for matching. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image signal and subject distance information are extracted each from a first referred area and each first referred area, and a similarity between the first reference area and the first referred area is determined in advance based on the difference in subject distance between the first reference area and the first referred area. Only when it is determined that the first reference area is similar to the first referred area, a value showing the similarity between the first reference area and the first referred area is calculated, and matching is performed, whereby a first reference area similar to the first referred area is determined.
