<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus capable of utilizing a plurality of applications while reducing loads on a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The wireless communication apparatus for performing close proximity wireless communication with a communicating party includes: a storage means for storing a plurality of directions that the wireless communication apparatus can take during the close proximity wireless communication and a plurality of application programs to be used in the close proximity wireless communication in correspondence; a direction detection means for detecting the direction of the wireless communication apparatus; and a close proximity wireless communication means for performing the close proximity wireless communication with the communicating party using the application program corresponding to the direction of the wireless communication apparatus during the close proximity wireless communication according to the direction detected in the direction detection means.
