1,124,897. Sewing machine. MEFINA S.A. 25 Aug., 1966 [12 Oct., 1965], No. 38172/66. Heading D1G. In a lock-stitch machine the loop taker is selectively prevented from engaging the upper thread loop by deflecting the loop or needle by means of the feed dog. Basting stitches are thereby formed. In a zig-zag machine a projection 19 on he dog, or an attachment 20 therefore, deflects the needle or thread loop on the inoperative stroke of the dog unless the needle is laterally displaced. Alternatively in a straight, or zig zag machine the inoperative stroke of the dog may be lengthened so that an edge of the needle slot engages the needle or thread loop. |
