PURPOSE: A mobile terminal having touch screen and a method for setting keypad thereof are provided to display the key pad setting instruction on the key pad based on the size of fingers of user. CONSTITUTION: During the keypad setup mode for setting the keypad displayed on the touch screen, it is determined whether a touch is detected in the touch screen(220). If the touch is detected, the size of the area of the touch is identified(225). The keypad consisting of the keys of the size corresponding to the identified size as described above is marked(235). It is determined whether the key pad setting is selected or not(240). If the keypad setting is selected, the marked keypad as described above is saved(270).
