A LED mounting assembly comprises a frame 1 with one or more slots (see array of fig 11) receiving one or more circuit board substrates 3 that each carry one or more LED devices 4. The frame has an elongate slot 4, into which circuit boards are slid (fig 7) The slot has an opening allowing light from the LEDs to escape the top of the frame. Either side of the opening are L-shaped portions have conductive strips 2 which carry power supply rails on the inside of the slot. The frame strips connect to contacts, preferably springs 5 on the top of the circuit substrate, and may comprise a common connection and multiple active connections for multiple LED devices. As the back of circuit board substrate contacts the frame back, a heat-sinking arrangement of fins (15) may be provided (see fig 10). An alternative arrangement (see figure 9 ) uses the contact between back of the, preferably metallic, frame and the back of the circuit substrate to provide an alternative power connection, such that a minimum of only one power rail (2) on the L-shaped potion and one top contact may be needed for a second connection. |
