<p>The apparatus comprises a detector for the position of the tool relative to the surface of the workpiece and for determining the distance between the surface of the workpiece and an adjusting line, at a certain distance from the tool axis. The detector comprises two pairs of gauges monitoring the distance between the work piece surface and the adjusting line corresponding to each gauge and situated on the surface of the tool or machine carriage. The adjusting lines are in the same perpendicular plane as the tool axis, on either side of the latter. The inputs of a number of "OR" gates, equal in no. to pairs of gauges, are connected to the outputs of the gauges corresponding to the adjusting lines on either side of the tool axis. The inputs of an "AND" gate are connected to the output of the "OR" gates, and the output signal controls the machine carriage drive.</p> |
