<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head in which a poor image due to stray light radiated from the end face of a substrate is prevented, and to provide an image forming apparatus employing it. <P>SOLUTION: A housing 60 employing an opaque material covers the periphery of a glass substrate 62 and opens on the side facing an image carrier. A member 64 is a cover glass and a member 66 is an opaque cover. An external connection circuit board 80 is fixed to one end part of the glass substrate 62 which is also fixed with a light emitting part 63 employing an organic EL light emitting element. The external connection circuit board 80 is composed of a light propagating member.
