PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor device surely performing a failure diagnosis even at the start of a system in which an object to be detected does not operate. SOLUTION: This magnetic sensor device 1 includes a detection circuit 10 that includes a plurality of MR elements connected with each other in a bridge circuit having resistance values varied in accordance with an orientation of a magnetic field applied thereto, and outputs a detection signal in accordance with the variation of the resistance values. The magnetic sensor device 1 further includes an amplifier circuit 20 that amplifies the detection signal so as to output it, and a diagnosing circuit having a diagnosing terminal which is used in such a manner that a predetermined voltage is applied to an input terminal of the amplifier circuit 20 from the outside and the output of the amplifier circuit 20 is detected so as to diagnose whether the amplifier circuit 20 adequately operates. By applying a predetermined voltage to the diagnosing terminals (DIAG1, DIAG2), determination whether a failure occurs is made on the basis of output signals Vout1, Vout2 of the magnetic sensor device 1.
