PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for blanking elements by which stress balance imparted to a punch at blanking is equalized and the improvement of the quality of blanking and the prolongation of the life of a die are attained. SOLUTION: This method for blanking the elements for CVT belts from a planar base stock is performed by using a die which is composed of a die and a punch. The punch is provided with a punch head, a punch body and a punch neck, while the die 2 has blanking holes 20 corresponding to the contour shape of the element and also chamfered parts 251, 252 for suppressing the generation of fracture surface on the cut surface of the element are provided on the inside peripheral corner part of the blanking holes 20 over the whole circumference. The chamfered part 251 is set so that an average chamfered cross-sectional area A of the head chamfered part 251 of the part corresponding to the head is smaller than the average chamfered cross-sectional area B of the body chamfered part 252 corresponding to the body when taking the cross-sectional area of the part removed from nearly perpendicular state as the chamfered cross-sectional area.
