1322408 Acetoacetic esters FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 2 Nov 1970 [11 Nov 1969] 51916/70 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic mono- or polyacetoacetate comprises reacting with diketene, at a temperature of from 50‹ to 150‹ C., a solution of a mono- or poly-hydric aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic alcohol, which alcohol has a boiling point of greater than 150‹ C. at normal pressure or which will not boil at all at normal pressure without decomposition, in a solvent which is an acetoacetate of an alkanol, the alkanol having 1 to 3 carbon atoms optionally in the presence of a basic catalyst. |
