1,173,866. Tapping containers. A. WEBBER. 22 May, 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 24326/68. Heading B8T. A pouring spout adapted for thin-walled containers, made, e.g. of paper, cardboard, synthetic plastics, comprises a tubular body 1 having an intermediate flange 7, the body below the flange having a V-threading 9 which has a smaller flank angle than any standard V-thread, the threading having an introduction portion 12 which starts from the cutting edge 13 of one of a number of ribs 14 which form a piercer. A resilient packing ring 11 is positioned adjacent the flange 7, the threading 9 being of reduced diameter within the packing ring. When the spout is screwed tightly into the wall of a container the portion of the wall around the hole formed by the piercer is securely held between the packing ring 11 and a flank 17 of the threading 9, Fig. 5 (not shown). The upper portion of body 1 may be provided with hand-grips 2 and closed by a plug. The through passage 4 may be divided into a number of passages 18 formed by extensions of the ribs 14. |
