A membrane/electrode coupling trimming apparatus comprising a trimming lower die for mounting a membrane/electrode coupling, a trimming upper die equipped with a trimming blade, and a holding member so suspended as to elevate in this trimming upper die a nd chuck a carbon electrode. Another disclosure is a membrane/electrode coupling carrier apparatus including a holding member that chucks the carbon electrode and so holds it as to preven t its slide. The positioning and fixture of the membrane/electrode coupling during trimming a nd trimming reliability enhance to prevent the positional slide of a trimmed membrane/electrode coupling during its transportation, so that the performance of a fuel cell improves.
