A vacuum change-over switch for coaxial cables comprises a housing 16 closed by a flexible diaphragm 104, which pivotally supports an actuator shaft 102, and having three coaxialtype sockets brazed or soldered thereto with their central conductors 46, 68, 74, extending into the housing. The housing is evacuated through a tube 14. A contact disc 48 connected to conductor 46 is located in an opening 49 in the housing 16 so as to leave an annular gap. Two flexible strip contacts 126 and 128, preferably of molybdenum, are supported from insulating bushes 122, 124 free to turn on pins 119, 120 which are carried by a U-shaped saddle member 114 secured to the actuator shaft 102; the lower ends of strips 126, 128 are accommodated in the annular gap around disc 48. A block 132 extends across the interior of housing 16 and carries a grounded contact 134 and two insulating bars, such as 138, to guide the strips 126, 128 therebetween. In one position of actuator 102 (as shown) the strip 126 connects disc 48, and hence conductor 46, to conductor 74, while the strip 128 is connected to the housing 16 at its free end and at contact 134 to provide a grounded shield to the unused conductor 68. In the other position of actuator 102 (Fig. 5, not shown) the strip 128 interconnects conductors 46 and 68 while strip 126 shields conductor 74.
