A boring bar 12 is rotatable in a housing 13, which is slidable on bars 14, 15, and the housing is clamped on the bars in the required position by a pair of hydraulic clamps 16. Each of the bars 14, 15 is located in bearings 19, 25, which provide shoulders 26, 27. Sleeves 28, 34 of each bar form an annulus 42 to which fluid pressure is supplied, so as to move the sleeves against the shoulders, and also the portion 31 of sleeve 28 into locking engagement with the bar. The fluid is supplied to, and exhausted from, the cavities by a solenoid controlled valve (55) and piston (49), Fig. 34 (not shown). |
