PURPOSE: A variable capacitance rotary compressor is provided to dampen the vibration noise by securing mode switching valves stably in a proper position. CONSTITUTION: A variable capacitance rotary compressor comprises a casing, an accumulator, a plurality of cylinders, an intake pipe, a plurality of rolling pistons, a plurality of vanes, and a mode switching unit. The accumulator is installed on one side of the casing. The cylinders are installed inside the casing. The intake pipe is connected to the accumulator and distributes a coolant into the compression spaces of the cylinders. The rolling pistons compress the coolant by rolling in the compression spaces. The vanes divide the compression space of each cylinder into an intake space and a discharge space. The mode switching unit with mode switching valves(540,550) selectively supplies the coolant of intake pressure or discharge pressure to the vanes.
