Disclosed is a compound of formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 are both H, and wherein the other substituents are as defined in the specification. Also disclosed is a cosmetic composition comprising the compound and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. Also disclosed is a method of lightening skin comprising applying the composition to skin. Also disclosed is a process for preparing a compound of formula (I).
