Disclosed is the use of an antibody polypeptide comprising an antibody single variable domain polypeptide in the preparation of a medicament for treating or preventing a symptom of autoimmune disease, wherein said single variable domain polypeptide is monovalent for binding to CD40L (gp39) and antagonizes an activity of CD40 or CD40L or both.
