PURPOSE: A method and an device for playing of contents, and a portable terminal device are provided to play the contents if the network speed is demoralized. CONSTITUTION: A download module(110) downloads contents at the fixed download speed. The download module comprises a buffer memory(112) and a speed check part(114) of the designated capacity. The buffer memory stores the contents. The speed check part checks the download speed. If the download speed becomes slow, a reproducing module(120) reproduces the contents, which presently plays at the steady rate, as the slower speed than the steady rate.
