A mobile terminal adapted to receive a message via a mobile network and request authentication data from the user of the mobile terminal, to transmit to an authentication system. The authentication system may automatically generate a response message to the mobile terminal or to a receiving users mobile terminal. The system may be used to ensure that the user acknowledges receipt of a message in a pre-determined way and send a confirmation to the message sender. The message may be a text message, such as the GSM standard SMS, fully or partially, encrypted using a public/private key pair, where the public key is only valid for a certain number of text messages. The keys may be transmitted in the message or prior to the message. The message may be deleted after a set time. If the process is successful, the transaction reference counters may be accordingly incremented and this counter used to ensure that the counts match. |
