Disclosed is a method for synthesising 4beta-amino-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin of formula (1) comprising the following successive stages: (a) reaction, in a pure weak acid without another solvent, at a temperature greater than ambient temperature of thiourea with 4beta-halogenoacetamido-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin, and (b) recovery of 4beta-amino-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin. Also disclosed is a method for synthesizing 4beta-amino-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin of formula (1) comprising the following successive stages: (i) reaction in a mixture of acid, water and organic solvent, at a temperature greater than ambient temperature, of thiourea with 4beta-halogenoacetamido-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin, and (ii) recovery of 4beta-amino-4'-demethylepipodophyllotoxin.
