PURPOSE: A variable capacity compressor, and an air conditioning system having the same are provided to reduce the copper loss generated in a conductive bar of a rotor, and improve power efficiency of the compressor. CONSTITUTION: A variable capacity compressor comprises a shell, a compression unit, a transmission unit, and a rotary shaft. The transmission unit comprises a stator and a rotor, and drives the compression unit. The rotor is driven by induced torque caused by a conductive bar, and operated with the synchronous speed of reluctance torque by a magnetic flux barrier, and magnetic torque by a permanent magnet.
