PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and method are provided to extract feature amount data for high authentication precision without using multiple face image data. CONSTITUTION: A luminance correction unit(212) determines the luminance of a detected image, and compensates a luminance error in the detected pixel. A feature point extracting unit(215) extracts feature amount data from the detected image. The luminance correction unit also determines the average of block correction gain and does not perform extraction of the feature amount data when the average exceeds the preset value. |
