PURPOSE: A method and device for forming a projection on a metal member and a metal component processed by the method is provided to obtain a solid projection with superior mechanical property and form the projection having micro-structure on the surface area using frictional heat. CONSTITUTION: A method for forming a projection on a metal member comprises the following steps. A tip-end part(13a) of a processing unit is compressed on the surface of a metal member(111) to be processed. The processing unit is rotated relatively in the opposite direction. The tip-end part of the processing unit moves linearly and circularly. The circular motion or the linear motion is performed on the surface which is parallel to the surface of the metal member to be processed.
