PURPOSE: A multi-layer display apparatus and a display method thereof are provided to display the second image, inputted to be displayed on the second display panel which is in the rear part, on the first display panel which is in the front part of the second image when a 2D image is displayed, thereby enabling a user to clearly watch a 2D image. CONSTITUTION: The first display panel(170) displays the first image. The second display panel(180) is overlapped with the first display panel to display the second image. When a set condition is satisfied, a controller(140) displays the second image inputted to be displayed on the second display panel on the first display panel. A switch unit(130) outputs one between the first and second images to the first display panel. The controller controls the switch unit to display the second image on the first display panel.
