PURPOSE: A composition containing lignin compound as an active ingredient is provided to promote calcium release and cell migration and treat immune diseases. CONSTITUTION: An agent for promoting calcium release and cell migration contains lignin compound of chemical formula 1 of pinoresinol-4,4'-di-O-B-D-glucose, its analog and its salt. The lignin compound is isolated and purified from Valeriana officinalis extract. The analog of the lignin compound is pinoresinol-4-O-B-D-glucose of chemical formula 2, trans-coniferin of chemical formula 3, 8-hydroxypinoresinol-4'-P-B-D-glucose of chemical formula 5.
