Method for detecting flaws in electric contactors by evaluating the emissions of infrared radiation in the electric arc formed in communication areas. The main function of the inventive method is to determine the degradation degree in contactor electrodes, which main sign is the formation of electric arcs therein and the emission of infrared radiation, which is proportional to the damage of the electrode. The present method includes 5 operative states in the contactor, which are applied to predictive maintenance programmes. The present file includes a detailed description of the method, as well as the state-of-the-art thereof.
