<p>The subject matter is the same as that disclosed in Specification 1,019,752 but the claims relate to a process for the production of flat glass which comprises continuously discharging glass on to a liquid having a density greater than that of the glass so as to establish a moving body of glass floating on said liquid, maintaining a portion of the glass at its softening temperature until it has achieved its desired surface finish, cooling the glass so that it can be removed from the liquid, removing the finished glass from the liquid and applying tractive forces to the finished glass to continue to move the glass along the liquid bath, a fluid being discharged against the bottom surface of the finished glass after its removal to support the same at least partially during its movement.</p> |
