PURPOSE: A drug delivery system for oral administration of sustained release of drug is provided to continuously maintain treatment effect for angina pectoris. CONSTITUTION: A sustained release formulation contains nicorandil, 5-90 weight% of polysaccharide and fatty acid ester. The sustained release formulation further contains alkalizer. The polysaccharide is corn starch, potato starch, xanthan gum, locust bean gum, guar gum, Arabic gum or carrageenan. The fatty acid ester is sugar fatty acid ester or glycerylbehenate. The alkalizer is calcium carbonate.
