PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover electric power generated in Rankine cycle. SOLUTION: A waste heat utilization system 10 is provided with a Rankine cycle 30 generating electric energy from waste heat of an engine 11. ECU 40 predicts travel conditions of a vehicle at a prescribed point of time when time equivalent to operation delay time of the Rankine cycle 30 elapses from the present time or after the time elapses, and judges based on the predicted vehicle travel condition that power generation start conditions of the Rankine cycle 30 are satisfied at the prescribed point of time. If it is judged that the power generation start conditions are satisfied at the prescribed point of time, operation start is instructed to the Rankine cycle 30 before the prescribed point of time.
