PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which can inhibit a liquid turned to a mist state from scattering out of a liquid storage part among a liquid jetted into the liquid storage part as a waste liquid from a liquid jet head by flushing, and to provide a flushing method of the liquid jet apparatus. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer is equipped with a recording head, a flushing box 35 which has an opening 37 to be opposed to a nozzle formation surface of the recording head when flushing and receives the ink jetted as the waste ink from the recording head via the opening 37, a carriage 16 which moves the recording head in a right and left direction, and a suction force applying means which can apply a suction force into the flushing box 35 for generating an air current that runs from the opening 37 side of the flushing box 35 to the inner deep side of the flushing box 35.
