<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element that improves its color conversion efficiency during color emission in an organic EL element that uses a color conversion scheme and is capable of emitting highly pure light, and to provide a multicolor display device and a light-emitting element manufacturing method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting element comprises: an organic electroluminescent unit having at least one organic layer that includes a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes on a substrate; and a color conversion layer that absorbs light emitted from the organic electroluminescent unit and irradiates light with different wavelengths, wherein the organic electroluminescent unit and the color conversion layer are disposed in a microcavity structure which is clamped between a light reflection layer and a semi-transmissive/semi-reflecting layer.
