<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain picture quality by performing FPN correction processing without lowering a frame rate in a live view mode or moving-image photography. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has an imaging element 14 in which a plurality of picture elements 141 imaging subject images and outputting picture element signals are arranged in a matrix, a selecting means 18 of selecting a row from which a picture element signal is to be read out among the plurality of picture elements 141 when a predetermined condition is met, a first read means 144 of reading a first picture element signal out of pixels 141 included in the row selected by the selecting means 18, a second read means 144 of reading a second picture element signal for generating an image for display or an image for recording from the plurality of picture elements 141, and a correcting means 181 of calculating a correction value for correcting an error of each picture element column for the second picture element signal using the first picture element signal, and using the correction value to correct the second picture element signal.
