PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sensitivity by a simple device, in a method wherein a sample is ionized by irradiating the sample with a laser, and the ionized sample is introduced into a mass spectrometer, and the sample is identified. SOLUTION: A liquid sample mixed with an ionization agent is changed into fine liquid drops (misty state) by a spray device, and laser light is irradiated onto the fine liquid drop sample. Hereby, sensitivity is improved as much as several hundred times, in comparison with simple irradiation of the laser light onto the liquid drops. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
