<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated newsprint for offset printing, excellent in opacity after printing and having good ink-impression property in cold set type high speed rotary press printing which uses osmotically dryable ink. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The coated newsprint for offset printing is provided by coating a surface treating agent containing a pigment and an adhesive, on base paper added with a filler, wherein, the coated newsprint for offset printing is coated to have 40-120 cc/100g oil absorption of the pigment, 0.01-1.0 cc/m<SP>2</SP>oil absorption amount of the pigment based on 1 m<SP>2</SP>of paper. Moreover, the filler is preferably added so that the oil absorption of filler per 1 m<SP>2</SP>of paper is 1-5 cc/m<SP>2</SP>. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
