<p>A portable telephone (10) comprises a first case (11), a second case (12), and hinges (13a, 13b) which connect the cases (11, 12) so as to be turnable on an axis in the long-side direction thereof. The first case (11) is equipped, at the periphery thereof, with a metal frame (14) and, at the center thereof, with a display section (15). A lightweight and high-strength metal having high electrical conductivity, e.g. a magnesium alloy or SUS, is used in the metal frame (14). When a metal of these kinds is used, strength can be ensured even if the metal frame is thin, and the metal frame (14) can operates as an antenna element. In addition, the second case (12) comprises a circuit board (16) that mounts thereon a baseband circuit, a wireless circuit, and the like, a first power supply section (17) for supplying power to the metal frame (14), a pull-out rod antenna (18) which can be pulled out from or retracted into the case and is fed with power from a second power supply section (19), and a key section (input section) (20) through which telephone numbers or characters are input. Furthermore, a cellular antenna (21) for communication with a base section is also incorporated. The rod antenna (18) can be pulled out in the direction substantially parallel with the turning axis by the hinges. On the case-end side which is opposite to the first and second power supply sections (17, 19) with respect to the X axis, the ground in the first case (11) and the ground of the circuit board (16) are connected by a ground flexible (22) through the hinge (13b). The ground is provided substantially entirely on the back surface of the circuit board (16).</p> |
