PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum-gas flushing type device which does not crush a packaged item by outer pressure while causing no position gap of the packaged item. SOLUTION: In the device sucking air in an upper box 16 and a lower box 17 both of which are partitioned by a cover film 10 by a vacuum pump 29, then supplying substitution gas from gas supply lines 47 and 48 to both the upper and lower gas boxes 16 and 17, and pressingly covering a packaged item in a tray 11 with the cover film 10 by atmospheric pressure inhaled from an intake valve 57 into the upper box 16, gas flow rates in the gas supply lines 47 and 48 are adjusted by flow rate-adjusting valves 52 and 53 with pressure compensation, and an opening and closing valve 53 is closed from an established value of a pressure sensor 61 while the pressure of the supply gas to the lower box 17 is detected by a pressure sensor 61.
