PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information processing apparatus, capable of altering navigation function, according to the difference of versions of map data. SOLUTION: The map information processing apparatus includes a map data storage part 102 for storing map data which is created for every unit map acquired, by dividing a prescribed range of a map into a plurality of meshes and in which a unit map of a new version and a unit map of an old version are included; an own vehicle position computation part 106 for computing the position of an own vehicle; a control part 100 for creating a travel track, on the basis of a computed position of the own vehicle, when it is determined that the own vehicle is traveling in a road not existing in the unit map of the old version on the basis of the position of the own vehicle computed by the own vehicle position computation part; and a road data addition part 109 for creating road data, on the basis of the travel track created by the control part and adding it to the map data storage part.
