A novel antibody capable of recognizing an extracellular domain of a human CLCP1 antigen; a nucleic acid encoding the antibody; a vector expressibly carrying the nucleic acid; a transformed cell having the vector therein; a method for producing the antibody; a method for diagnosing cancer, a method for diagnosing the prognosis of cancer, a method for immunologically measuring a cell or tissue, or a kit for detecting the expression level of CLCP1 in a cell or tissue, each of which utilizes the antibody; a pharmaceutical composition, a pharmaceutical preparation for use in the treatment or prevention of cancer in which CLCP1 is expressed, an inhibitor of the proliferation, migration, invasion or metastasis of a cancer cell capable of expressing CLCP1, an immunostaining agent, and a pharmaceutical preparation for use in the treatment or prevention of a tumor in which CLCP1 is expressed, each of which comprises the antibody; and a method for screening for a candidate substance capable of inhibiting the proliferation, invasion, migration or metastasis of a cancer cell or screening for a candidate substance having a cytotoxic activity on a cancer cell.
