BACTERIA AND DERIVED PRODUCTS TO STRENGTHEN DEFENCES AND REDUCE RISK OF ILLNESS

This invention provides a new strain of the genus Bifidobacterium and the components of the cultivation supernatants thereof in the form of diverse preparations (functional and new foods, probiotics, symbiotics, supplements, nutraceuticals and drugs) destined to improve defences and reduce the risk of illness. The mechanisms of action thereof include: (i) regulation of intestinal glycosylation promoting that of healthy individuals, (ii) modulation of interactions between epithelial cells and intestinal microbiota promoting adhesion of beneficial bifidobacteria and (iii) regulation of immunological responses. The products included are stable in gastrointestinal and technological conditions, ensuring their exploitation.
