The method involves detecting temporary pressures drops (14a-14c) within a vehicle fluid system i.e. fuel injection system, by a pressure sensor. A size value of the temporary pressures drops is smaller than a size value of entire pressures drops (15a-15c). The temporary pressures drops within a selectable time interval (13) is checked. An error signal is output by a signal unit when a selectable maximum number of temporary pressure drops within the time interval is present. The error signal is stored in a storage unit as information about failure of the system. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting unwanted air fractions in a fuel injection system.
